Come and explore this giant hothouse with its modern domes rising out of the Cornwall countryside, filled with plants from all over the world, ranging from the tropical rainforests to the Mediterranean climates. A great place to learn about nature in a fun, interactive way.
Best for: Ages 3 and up
What to Expect:
Head to the Forest Biome to experience the rainforest conditions and natural offerings you’d find in Malaysia, West Africa and South America, including a banana plantation.
Take a journey through the Mediterranean Biome to find out how the food we eat is grown or discover the types of plants you may see on your family holidays.
Take kids to The Core, Eden’s Education Centre, where children’s workshops, exhibitions, talks and events take place, including den-building in summer and ice-skating in winter. It is also home to The Seed, a 300-million-year-old hunk of Cornish granite, thought to be the largest sculpture in history to be made from a single piece of rock.
Seek out the imaginative children’s play areas dotted around, keep an ear cocked for the impromptu storytelling sessions, and hunt out the trails with their hideaways, stepping stones and sandpits.
Check out the ‘What’s on’ page for events throughout the year and in school holidays. And sign up to the Eden Project newsletter for updates on kids and family events.
See our Cornwall guide to family-friendly hotels and accommodation in the area.
Opening times are daily Apr–Oct 10 am-6pm, Nov-March 10am–4.30pm (with last admission 4.30pm and 3pm respectively).
The Eden Project encourages visitors to come by public transport where feasible, with their Directions page listing walking and cycling routes, bus and train services, and car-share schemes. If you do come by car, the Project is well-signposted from the A30 from Exeter and the A391/390 from Plymouth, and there is lots of parking on-site.
There are several on-site eateries using seasonal and local produce, but you can also picnic here.
Family tickets for up to five will set you back about £60 on the door, £3 less with online advance booking. Those who arrive on foot or by bike get a massive discount – a family ticket is under £40.
