What to do

Print out or pick up on-site the free Stonehenge Step Inside guide, full of fun activities that will help kids aged 5–9 to explore the mystery of Stonehenge.

Use the complimentary audio tour of the historic site to help you understand the history and possible meanings of the stones as you walk around them (this takes about 45mins).

Where to stay

Family-friendly accommodation handy for Stonehenge includes the Holiday Inn Salisbury-Stonehenge and the Premier Inn Salisbury, but Wiltshire is also well know for its farmhouse accommodation.

In summer, Stonehenge is open daily 9.30am–6pm. For seasonal variations, see the website.

How

Stonehenge is about 14km from Salisbury in Wiltshire, which is just under 150km west of London on the M3.

For those coming by public transport, the Stonehenge Tour bus operates from Salisbury train and bus stations and also takes in the nearby Iron Age fort Old Sarum and some of the Wiltshire countryside, with on-board commentary.
