This is a really unique holiday experience, living like they did in the olden days, (with a few added luxuries of running water, albeit cold, and a flushing toilet). It may sound a bit scary, but it is one of the most relaxing holidays you'll ever experience. The working farms, are a wonderful environment, the farmers really great, with not a peep of 'Get off my laaaaaand!. Farms are generally set in beautiful farmland near nature reserves. The kids adapt quickly to the outdoor lifestyle and soon cbeebies, play stations and wi’s are all forgotten, and they are more than happy to be transported around by wheel barrow!. Plus beyond the UK there are some great Agriturismos in Europe too.
Plan your holidays meals in advance to make the most of cooking in the farm bread ovens, for example, stews, pizzas, joints of meat or of course bread all work really well.
Also consider a group trip with other families......this will guarantee them other kids to play with, and for you, other grown ups to share meals or a glass of wine with on your terrace decking.
