Maldives No. 1 for Family Holidays

According to Kuoni’s Travel Trends Report 2012, based on booking patterns for 2011 and customer feedback, the Maldives – no.1 since 2005 – remains the most desirable destination, even for family holidays, with Kuramathi Island Resort holding the top place among its family destinations.

The next five positions in also remain the same: Thailand, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates, USA and Mauritius retain spots 2–6. Barbados, which was at n.10 in 2011, has replaced Italy at no.7. Malaysia and Kenya have swapped places, to hold spots 8 and 9 respectively. And Singapore, which didn’t make the 2011 list, comes in at no.10 this year.

The firm also predicts that South Africa will see massive growth in 2012, assisted by the rand’s weakness against the pound.
