Feather Down Farms: Lochhouses Farm

Feather Down Farms: Lochhouses Farm

Lochhouses Farm and its surroundings are steeped in history, and adjoins the sand dunes and beach of the John Muir Country Park. As well as the beautiful beaches, Lochhouses has extensive lakes and woodland perfect for walking, cycling and riding. Although mainly an arable farm growing potatoes and other crops the Dale family also keep cattle on the grassland slopes near the sea, part of which is also managed as a wetland for wading birds and even rare visitors such as the wood lark. Pets are welcome, under good control, and you can even bring your horse, and take advantage of grazing and stabling facilities.

on each farm there is: - An honesty shop selling provisions such as eggs, milk (fresh from the cow), bread, bacon sausages, etc as well as the essential boxes of wood and kindling (Lochhouse's honesty shop is in their shipwrecked boat!). - A Feather Down hen house where fresh eggs can be collected daily by guests - A traditional wood fired oven lit once each week (or stay) for breads, pizzas, stews, roast chickens; anything you like really, so probably worth doing a bit of research beforehand. - The paddock a small collection of petting animals, for example, lop eared rabbits, chickens, sheep, and shetland ponies etc - Bike rental a collection of bikes including child seats, but it’s advisable to book them before you leave. (plus remember this is a farm and it is probably not the same as cycling in Holland) Hot showers! Set away from the tents and usually near the farm house.
