The Hotel & Extreme Academy, Watergate Bay, Cornwall

As the name suggests, the Hotel & Extreme Academy in trendy Watergate Bay in western Cornwall is a great place to bring older kids and teens, who can take advantage of the excellent surfing tuition. But there’s plenty to do on family holidays and breaks with younger kids, whether indoors or out on the magnificent beach. Boutique-style rooms, friendly staff and good food (notably in Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen, on the top floor of the Extreme Academy) bring parents back year on year. Work starting in autumn 2011 will modernize The Hotel & Extreme Academy’s swimming pool and other leisure facilities.

Supervised evening sessions (OFSTED registered) in Kids’ Zone (ages 3–7; parents must stay in hotel grounds; extra charge; pre-booking required).
