Ibizia - Family Friendly Resorts
Santa Eulalia, although the island's 3rd largest town, is lovely with a fab marina, long beach, (and ice cream parlour), some great restaurants (it's the gastronomy center of Ibiza) and lovely bars, including a great one favoured by Noel Coward on 'Restaurant Street', which is still a great place to spend the evening. On the East coast, so much quieter, with hardly any clubbers, as Pacha is the nearest in Ibiza (Evissa), town. You can still find fish and chips, or burgers if you really really want to, or a 'British pub', (I think there are one or two of these, and popular with ex-pats), but on the whole it is far more a family friendly and easy to immerse yourself in Spanish life, mix with local families or other holiday makers. You often see school groups (with tons of Spanish kids of various ages) in a crocodile along the palm lined promenade with their teacher, appearing to be really well behaved. It is also well worth hiring a car, (parking is relatively easy in a free public carpark, near the fantastic market with tons of fabulous fresh produce including vegetables, herbs, fish and meats). Take a trip up to Portanix (hippy central from the early seventies, but beautiful, tranquil and rural), or visit some of the beautiful isolated beaches and coves along the way, i.e. Cala Bosch (not spelt correctly), or pop in for a afternoons yoga at one of many isolated retreats. Make sure you stop off in San Carlos, for a coffee, drink or snack at the fabulous 'Anita's' bar, where you can site outside and watch the world go by, whilst locals pop in to collect their post, (it also seems to be a kind of post office, with mail boxes), as local services get a little scant on this part on the island!! Honestly well worth it!! Forget clubbing, MOST of Ibiza island is mountainous, green and nothing like what you hear. Think more of cycling to the local shop, (which is probably a hang out for locals and quite a hub), to buy gorgeous tomatoes and a great bottle of red for about ?1.50, or asking the farmer next door if he can supply you with some fresh lamb! If this is more what you are after then I suggest looking for a villa to rent, rather than hotel accommodation. I'm now feeling quite jealous, as we have had such fabulous times there!! Lots of luck!!
