Is long haul better than short haul?

I find the most exhausting element of flying is all the kafuffle getting on and off. Once on board, it’s plain sailing, thanks to back-of-the-seat screens. On long haul, the kids usually sleep a little, watch films a little, eat a little. Airplane meals, with so much to unwrap, enthral them.
Are we the only family who prefers long haul to short? - Dea |

I think it depends completely on where you are travelling to and from. South Africa, Mauritius and the Seychelles are long-haul without the jet lag, while America and Asia have the added complication of significant time differences. An overnight flight with no or little time difference is relatively easy with kids, compared to a short night-time return from the U.S. that leaves the whole family wishing they had never gone away (there are day time flights from the East Coast which can help)

At Travelbeam Luxury Hotels we specialise in luxury family trips in Europe & North Africa - so all of our destinations are under 5½ hours (no long flight with the kids). The good thing about short haul is you can still get guaranteed winter sun when Mediterranean temperatures drop...theres the Canaries (see ABAMA Golf & Spa Resort, Tenerife) or Sharm (Hyatt Regency Sharm El Sheikh).
