My boyfriend and I are planning to take a holiday in May, at which time I will be 21 weeks pregnant. I am hoping for short haul, but there is some debate about this in our household, as to whether it will be hot enough. Should I be taking any special measures? Should I wear DVT socks? What about tummy upsets? Will I get/need in flight assistance? This pregnancy is so far much more tiring than the last. Has anyone done long haul pregnant? Or holiday experiences pregnant? This is our second child. Our first child is now 4, and is very sociable and has no problems mixing with other kids, so kid's clubs would help with my energy levels!!

Oh, and I have read that 27 weeks is the latest airlines allow you to fly if pregnant, so we have almost 2 months to play with.

Hi Debs, I went to Thailand when I was about 20 wks preg. and tho' I was slightly more uncomfortable than most on the plane, it was fine. I didn't take any special precautions as such - just the usual, e.g. drink plenty of water, walk/stretch regularly on flight, comfy clothes/shoes. I didn't have to take any vaccines but I did bring some Dioralyte in case I got any severe diarhoea - if hit with a severe bug it is better to take this than to stay dehydrated for too long, but check with your Doc of course! We go on Sunsail holidays every year. We have been to Turkey in May - it was very very pleasant! Temp is in mid 20's. The kids clubs are fab and work very well. You can lie by the pool and just grow your baby! Flights there are 4+ hrs with a 1hr transfer. All very worthwhile. Airlines differ greatly with how preg.you can be to travel so check with each one. Up to 34 wks on some short haul but about 30wks for long haul I think. Personally, I wouldn't do long haul that pregnant! 20ish wks is just perfect!
