I used this on my 2 year old. I obtained it via prescription as our local pharmacies do not routinely sell it with the view of using it to travel long haul to New Zealand. I tested it on my son the night before departure and i was glad I did. The next morning he looked like a zombie (really scary) and he was promptly sick. I did not use this on the flight, i took plenty of small toys, small snacks and a familiar blanket for him to snuggle into...worked fine!

I used Phenergan on my eldest daughter for car sickness from when she was about 7 years old. I always bought it over the counter in the chemists. It worked for a treat the sickness (although I always wondered if that was psychological) but it did not make her more drowsy or more awake at all - she seemed exactly as normal. Maybe the dosage for car sickness is smaller than that for inducing sleep?

My four year old son has excema and has been prescribed phenergyn for the past two years to help him sleep without itching. It really helps him get into a deep sleep. I have used it on my two year old little girl when she went through a phase of waking in the night. After three nights she'd cracked it. All phenergyn does is help get my two into a deeper sleep than usual. You can buy phenergyn over the counter in most chemists. I know Boots definitely have it. It helps my son with his itching and has irradicated our sleep problems here!

I used phenergan on my two year old last summer for a lengthy flight. It definately worked as he was asleep about 15 mins after giving it to him! However what i would say is that it took him almost 2 days after this to recover fully from it...he was a bit zombie like and irate!

I used it on my 13 month old when traveling to the US. I spoke to my GP first and under advise used it in a small amount 2.5. He slept for 5 houres and when he woke up he seemed fine. no side affects. I would take advise from your GP first.

I have heard that there is a small amount of phenegan in 'Mediced'. I have found 'Mediced' great for getting the kids to sleep. I have also used phenegan bought over the counter at an independent chemist and found it safe to use.

Absolutley Not! I gave it to my two year old on a longhaul flight to the States. It had the opposite effect-my daughter was hyperactive for 9 hours and ended running up the aisles with no clothes on-Never again and I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone. My husband disowned her and I ended up crying on the floor by the toilets. If I could have got off I would have done....

I have used Phenergan as a cure for travel sickness in the car - for which it worked brilliantly - but only when the dose was given just before travelling. It does also have a sediative effect and helped my son to get through a period of difficulty sleeping. I found 1 chemist unduly suspicious when I asked for phenergan, but when I stated it was for travel sickness they were fine. I thought if its for sale over the counter it must be safe if you read all the directions and only use it when necessary.

I wouldn't use it on the flight, but, if flying long-haul use it on the fist night at your destination to help get over the jet-lag. Word of caution. My 12 and 10 year olds used it last year (Malaysia) and their 'minor' sunburn blistered and has scarred. It is a side effect I believe.
