Default holiday - hotels/villas - kitchens? What do you do?

I have a 10month old boy. He is eating pre-prepared food, teeth just coming through and not quite ready for simple proper food at restaurants. My wife and I want to go away just after Easter for a week or two, but are having conflicting thoughts and advice. Basically do we need a kitchen/ette? As we all know, villas are great for self-catering but offer little in the way of facilities that hotels offer; obviously hotels offer great facilities but few offer kitchens/microwaves in their rooms. Specifically talking abut 5* hotels. We stayed in a villa within a hotel complex when he was 6months which was fine and this seems the best option (we stayed at the Sheraton Algarve Portugal in their new apartments/villas),but can't imagine everyone does this?
So two questions: Do we need a kitchen if staying for more than a week/10days (or is it hot water assisted heated up tins all the time?)- how do other parents manage with prep of food, microwave etc? Secondly any suggestions of (proper) 5* hotels with kitchenettes/ apartments, particularly Europe/UAE/East?
thanks, Tony

Thumbs up Bungalow Parks are the solution

They aren't very common, but some visionaries have built up a few bungalow parks. I've recently been to one of them Camping Sant Pol, Bungalow Park, Sant Feliu de Guíxols, Costa Brava, Girona. Originally it was a camping site, but family owner turned it into a bungalow park, with plentiful facilities of high quality. Price is very well balanced. Quiet and small, beautiful, cosy and well situated.
