Default Ibizia - Family Friendly Resorts

Can anyone recommend family friendly resorts in Ibiza. Have always wanted to travel to this Island and my husband and I now have a 2 year old daughter and would love to go to Ibiza for a change this summer. Don't know anyone that has been there so any help would be greatly appreciated as you can't always believe what the brochures say!

Default Ibizia - Family Friendly Resorts

Santa Eulalia, although the island's 3rd largest town, is lovely with a fab marina, long beach, (and ice cream parlour), some great restaurants (it's the gastronomy center of Ibiza) and lovely bars, including a great one favoured by Noel Coward on 'Restaurant Street', which is still a great place to spend the evening. On the East coast, so much quieter, with hardly any clubbers, as Pacha is the nearest in Ibiza (Evissa), town. You can still find fish and chips, or burgers if you really really want to, or a 'British pub', (I think there are one or two of these, and popular with ex-pats), but on the whole it is far more a family friendly and easy to immerse yourself in Spanish life, mix with local families or other holiday makers. You often see school groups (with tons of Spanish kids of various ages) in a crocodile along the palm lined promenade with their teacher, appearing to be really well behaved. It is also well worth hiring a car, (parking is relatively easy in a free public carpark, near the fantastic market with tons of fabulous fresh produce including vegetables, herbs, fish and meats). Take a trip up to Portanix (hippy central from the early seventies, but beautiful, tranquil and rural), or visit some of the beautiful isolated beaches and coves along the way, i.e. Cala Bosch (not spelt correctly), or pop in for a afternoons yoga at one of many isolated retreats. Make sure you stop off in San Carlos, for a coffee, drink or snack at the fabulous 'Anita's' bar, where you can site outside and watch the world go by, whilst locals pop in to collect their post, (it also seems to be a kind of post office, with mail boxes), as local services get a little scant on this part on the island!! Honestly well worth it!! Forget clubbing, MOST of Ibiza island is mountainous, green and nothing like what you hear. Think more of cycling to the local shop, (which is probably a hang out for locals and quite a hub), to buy gorgeous tomatoes and a great bottle of red for about ?1.50, or asking the farmer next door if he can supply you with some fresh lamb! If this is more what you are after then I suggest looking for a villa to rent, rather than hotel accommodation. I'm now feeling quite jealous, as we have had such fabulous times there!! Lots of luck!!

You should probably be looking at Portinatx, Cala Vadella, Cala LLonga or Santa Eulalia as these are all family friendly resorts I beleive. Cala Llonga seems a decent choice as there are play areas nearby. HTH

I agree.
Unless you have teenagers, and even then you might not be too keen on them venturing to San Antonio, I would stick to the North and East Coast, although Ibiza town itself is quite a good compromise.

Santa Eulalia has a great beach and lovely marina and 'Restaurant Street' (the clue is in the name) is a good one to venture down. Taxis are easy to find, and also if you are self catering the food market (amazing fresh produce including veg, meat and fish)is brilliant! Heading up north is almost like another island entirely, and incredibly rural for such a small island. Idyllic in fact! Recommended!! Portinatx, also has beaches where the shallows go on for ages, which is perfect for young children. - Jimmy J
