We're looking for a summer holiday to the med with two boys aged 7 and 9. Looked at Mark Warner and read reports which suggest kids clubs are great but hotels poor. Does anyone know of a five star hotel with great kids facilities ( not the MW ones in Egypt).

Try Tots Too at totstoo.com... it has LOADS of 5 star hotels that are all family friendly! Even though it says "tots" in the name it still has all the info you need for older kids too, like kids clubs and inter-connecting rooms. They have arranged my holiday and the people on the end of the phone really know their stuff! x

There are a whole host of hotels that specialise in the more luxurious side of the med with kids clubs and a host of operators too. Here are a few suggestions for the more popular ones:
Vila Vita Parc, Algarve Anassa Hotel, Cyprus Porto Sani, Halkidiki Forte Village, Sardinia Meridien Chia Laguna, Cyprus Check out our travel partner Kids in the Med for more suggestions or Powder Byrne who's childcare is second to none. Alternatively Club Med have just produced a luxury portfolio featuring Opio en Provence in the med and it is definitely worth looking at and all inclusive programmes are definitely more attractive with the current exchange rate! Travelbeam (Home) specialise in first-hand advice of luxury family hotels in Europe so you can give them a brief and they can tell you exactly what resort would best suit you. We loved the Sheraton Algarve in Portugal has fantastic child care catering for ages from 6 months to teenagers. It has a beautiful huge sandy white beach and a children's village complete with pirate adventure playground and kid's pool. I would highly recommend staying in one of the brand new Pine Cliffs Residences (2 & 3 bedroom apartments) which are ideal for families.

We holiday every year at Hotel Bon Sol in Mallorca, it is a family owned Hotel with free nanny service during school holidays, and they will cater for any age of child, the food is superb (chef makes early tea for children all home made) the pools are plentiful and some heated (one salt pool - no chlorine) there is a small private beach, and they have family rooms so children are in own connected room - beds are comfy, slippers are free, kettle, english TV channels etc) this is an upmarket but not snobby hotel, it is very non commercial and although you have convenience of mallorcas many attractions on doorstep you will feel as though you are in a quiet oasis during crazy school holidays - I have only ever encountered max 10 other children there. Book direct for best prices.
