Although not generally associated with family breaks, you can have a wonderful break with kids in Amsterdam. It's compact and manageable. As with all cities it's home to hundred of thousands of kids, so there's plenty to do. It's a short flight from the UK and easily accessible once there. Be ready, however, to answer a lot of questions if you venture into certain parts of town. On the whole, thoroughly recommendable! Any tips to share with Take the Family visitors about Amsterdam are appreciated.

WELL I'M NOT TOO SURE YOU'RE RIGHT HERE. IT'S A VERY BUSY CITY, FULL OF TRAFFIC, AND REALLY GEARED UP MORE FOR SINGLES.

Didn't enjoy it with my 4 and 1 yr old. More set up for adults admiring the canals and going to museums and galleries. Also VERY smoky which was horrid. Couldn't find anywhere nice to eat in centre - just dark bars or chips n ****.
