Hi, For anyone travelling near the Bordeaux region, I recommend the sand dune at Archachon> It is an awesome,enormous sand dune that it is said will eventually eat its way through France, yet you read/hear surprisingly little about it. Also, for anyone taking the family on a French holiday (particuarlly one that involves camping, I recommend Susie Kelly's new book, 'A Perfect Circle.'It is a very funny account of travelling around the borders of France in a camper van with two very badly behaved dogs in tow. Yes I remember surfing down that sanddune many years ago. The book recommendation is much appreciated........especially as we are considering buying a camper van and already have a badly behaved dog!
