Going to Italy

I am just starting to gather information about vacationing in Italy with my family. Kids will be 11 and 13 when we go and we will have 2 weeks to be there. I have bought travel books and read websites, but can't seem to find one major point. How long do you recommend to stay in one place in order to see all the famous sites? Two days, four days, a week? We are looking at starting in Naples and going to Rome, Tuscany and Venice.
Any recommendations? Thanks so much |

Vising Rome, Tuscany, and Venice makes a nice 2 week holiday. It is possible to fit Naples into this as well - but it would feel rushed. Rome has many sights that are wonderful for families and an ideal stay is 4 nights. Tuscany is spread out and many of the family-friendly accommodations have week-long stay requirements (those with kitchens and private living space)- an ideal stay is 7 nights. Venice is very touristy but fun - an ideal stay is 2-3 nights. As you can see there isn't much room for Naples here unless you give up nights in Tuscany. It also depends on the season - in warmer months you may want to spend time on the beach in the Naples area (Sorrento, Amalfi Coast etc.) and in that case a week-long stay is ideal. For accommodations suggestions and travel trips visit the Ciao Bambino website - we specialize in family travel to Italy.

We went to italy last year, to San Remo, Milan, Venice, Florance and Rome with a day trip to Naples and Pompei. I would definately reccomend at least 4-5 nights in Rome. San Remo is a very relaxing beautiful place right on the mediteranian sea, not much to do there but very nice for a 1-2 night relax away from the hustle and bustle. I would definately recommend Venice (2-3 nights), for the experience especially with a 11 and 13 year old-they would be fascinated. Overall we found Italy to be great, beautiful food, beautiful culture and very friendly.
