Fancy mauritius in August. Is that a good time? We are a family of four but one of our "children" will be 15. Finding it hard to make an online booking. Any recommendations

Default Mauritius...or the Caribbean

Did you know that Virgin Atlantic and BA have extended their child age to the Caribbean to 16 years which means that your teenager can still travel as a kid. Try Caribbean specialists Caribtours 0207 751 0660 as they have the best offers.

Almost anytime is a good time to go to Mauritius, with only a short wet season from January to March. This also means that prices are similar year round, with the exception of Easter and Christmas. It's always a good idea to book as early as possible to get the best deals during school holidays, or to leave it to the last minute, but choices will be more limited. Some of our favourite travel partners have some great Mauritius holidays, including Four Winds Holidays, Beachcomber Tours, Aspire holidays and Virgin holidays. Virgin holidays may be a great option for your family, as at many accommodations they offer Teen prices and Teen Clubs, in addition to their excellent Kids clubs. Check out our Mauritius destination guide: http://www.takethefamily.com/where/mauritius.php Good luck & have a great family holiday Sam at Take the Family

Your 15 year old might like something a bit more active to do than hanging around a pool, however luxurious. Mauritius is a great windsurfing spot, though it's probably seasonal, but if you type windsurfing plus Mauritius into Google you should get some results. Or check out Planet Windsurf and Sportif, which are specialist Windsurfing holiday companies. I think the hotel that is in the best windsurfing place is called 'Indian' something - looks pretty luxurious. Jane 2

Default Mauritius-Speak to the Experts

There is so much to do in Mauritius with teenagers whether they are shy or outgoing. Speak to the guys at Elegant Destinations as they have a local office and can find out all the information about the wind surfing in Le Morne or East coast as well as some of the active excursions. They know the hotels and island like the back of your hand. Their website is Mauritius Holidays, Seychelles, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Oman, Bahrain, Maldives and Sri Lanka -Elegant Destinations, give them a call or drop them an email.

I read on trip advisor that Mauritius in August can be really quite chilly especially when it's windy. The west side of Mauritius is the warmen and less windy off the two. Just to warn you. Try Having a look on All-inclusive holidays | cheap last minute bargains | family holidays – travelsupermarket UK for the online booking.
