Default Accomodation near Durham, County Durham

Hi

First post and hello to all. I have a large family and have just despatched one of my children to Durham University leaving me with four kids still at home. Does anyone know of any accoodation available in the area to house 2 adults and four children n one room please?

Thanks for any help and advice.

Firstly big congrats for your despatch to Durham Uni.

You may find it difficult getting the rest of family accommodated in just one room in Durham, so depending on the ages of your other children you may find that 2 interconnecting rooms suit you better, or even self catering accommodation such as an apartment or cottage? Search for a self catering option with Cottages4You.

Take a look at this selection of Durham Hotels with partners Active Hotels:
Farnely Tower - 0.5 km from Durham's centre with views of the Cathedral, although the Family room sleeps 5.

King's Lodge Hotel - 0.7 km from Durham centre. Children under 10 stay free - Within walking distance of railway station. (A Family ensuite room accommodates 2 Adults & 2 Children, with additional rooms available.)

Grafton House - 1 km from Durham's centre. Boutique hotel with 10 rooms. Try a Standard Room with an adjoining room.

Travel Lodge are also very reasonably priced, (an important consideration for larger families), meaning you could possibly get 2 rooms for the price of one in other hotels. See : Travelodge - Durham Hotel Overview. Note if you need a travel cot, they are in limited supply.

I would also advise looking around Durham for accommodation a little further a field, and to seriously consider self catering options.

We hope it all goes well.
