Default Family friendly Campsites?

I know, I know...camping in Blighty in September I hear you ask? It really is much much better than it sounds! We love camping, and would really appreciate some recommendations for family friendly campsites (and dog friendly) in the South West or the Lake District or Scotland (for warmer months) or anywhere if recommended highly enough! We have happily left tents behind us (not literally) and have acquired a folding camper (comes in a towable trailer; Just wind the handle and it's like a little house! with cooker, fridge etc! Great!) September is a great time to go too, as the summer holiday rush is over, so you can have the whole place to yourself quite often, and night times are much quieter too. We try to get away at least once or twice a month for the weekend, (April to October), or hire cottages for the really chilly months. If there are any outdoorsy enthusiasts out there, it would be great to hear your favourites

Try South Allington House in South Devon. Lovely grounds for camping and you can take a room(s) in the house if the weather too awful. http://www.sthallingtonbnb.demon.co.uk/ Good luck

If it is Cornwall you are after try Treago Farm, near Crantock and Newquay. They have great facilities, (including children's games room and bar for adults -May to Sept), for campers of all types, tents, trailers, campervans and caravans, (with or without electic hook up), and it is a short walk to the gorgeous Crantock Beach. Nearby family friendly pubs are The Bowgie(overlooking the beach) and The Albion in Crantock village. You can call to make a reservation on 01637 830277. Good luck and happy camping!

Has anyone taken their family on a Tipi or Yurt holiday in the UK? With a wood burning stove I can imagine them being pretty cosy in our colder months?

You could take the Condor Ferry from Portsmouth (slow) or Poole (fast) to Guernsey and try Fauquets Valley Camping Camping in Guernsey Pool and cafe. Toilets spotless.

You can either have a marked spot with power supply or join us in the Outback field where it's camp where you like but much more peaceful.

Lots to do on the island including many miles of beaches. Eating out is very cheap compared to UK as taxes are lower. Local bike hire will deliver to the camp site for you if you want to not use the car. Bus stops are 20 mins walk, so the only down side.

Enjoy, we do!
