No one ever really pays full price at Center Parcs. If it's not a promo code then it's a family discount, of almost every type.

No matter the discount, they certainly seem to make a few bob back on activity costs, creches, restaurants, and their awful shops.

I quite fancy the look of the new holiday village in Wales - Bluestone. I think they are going be the kind of place Center Parcs would like to be, or think they are, but never will.

Someone was telling me about the energy efficiency of the place, and the ecologically sympathetic way it has been constructed. Apparently they are opening a snow dome in it next year too, and The Blue Lagoon pool complex certainly looks to at the very least rival CP's tropical paradises. I always thought that was the highlight of Center Parcs, but there seems a lot more to look forward to at Bluestone.

Is anyone going to Bluestone?

Thumbs down Elvedon Forest

We have just come back from Elvedon Forest and what a disappointment. This wasn't our first visit but I think this will be our last. We had upgraded our accommodation to Executive but it was very scruffy and well worn, hadn't been cleaned properly and the complimentary towels, toiletries and kitchen packs had been forgotten, as well as the toilet roll!!! The TV volume was broken, so was the oven - don't they check these things?

The Pacmarket seemed even more expensive than normal, we usually take our own food to avoid the high prices, but we had to buy some eggs. £1.89 for 1/2 a dozen eggs, a rip-off. One evening after swimming we went to the bar above the swimming pool for a drink, the price of beer was comparable to a pub, but they charged us £2.99 for a glass of lemonade for the kids with a dash of strawberry syrup in it.

Although we did get a 20% discount off our accommodation, I think next time we'll go for a short break in a cottage or try Featherdown Farms

Default Longleat Experience

Wow I am sad to see so many disapointed comments however I can understand the cost side of things it is very expensive a small shopping trolley of essentials some how cost us £138 and there is ALOT of walking involved.

But most of the time there is the land train, our children had alot of fun and we really enjoyed being in the forest it was beautiful.
We went with 4 children all boys 6,5,3 and 3mths. We took the train and got a taxi transfer no buggy just a sling for the baby-it wasnt easy but it really wasnt that bad.
We loved the comfort plus accomodation we grabbed for £199 4nts.
We found the whole place very clean spacious and friendly but there were a few people who were not happy with the service.
On a whole in was an action packed holiday and we were shattered it took 45mins to walk from where we were to the plaza but we got fit and had an incredible time,we woke in sealy beds to see woodland animals outside we had a log fire at night and spent quality time together.

We have booked for July and Jan next year.

Thumbs up Lake District Centerparcs good fun

We've been for a couple of October half terms, it's a lovely time of year to go because the trees are a wonderful colour and if it's cool or wet, there's the pool to go to. I wouldn't go for more than 4 days because I get a bit wrinkly, the kids want to be in the pool the whole time.

I also love the spa. Kids enjoyed high ropes, just cycling around on their own (10 and 12 yrs), a meet the animals session in the forest lodge (3 yrs) and a few other sessions, but we didn't book too much.

The dishwasher didn't work for a few days, so we got a free takeaway from the chinese restaurant.
