Inland of Nice, the beautiful mountains of the Mercantour have rolling alpine pastures, ancient hamlets, mountain streams, pine-cloaked gorges, turquoise lakes and spectacular high peaks. For younger children, there are a variety of short and medium walks, with great picnicking and paddling opportunities, and 45 minutes away, at the mountain resort of Valberg, other activities can be arranged such as bungee trampolining, a summer luge run and forest adventure courses. For older children, there is the highest peak around to conquer – at 3050m - and masses of other activities can be arranged: from bungee jumping to canyoning, canoeing and white-water rafting. Self-guided walks from ½ hour to full day ensure there is something for everyone, and an Upland Explorer activity pack is provided to keep all children interested and informed. You are completely free to do whatever you choose each day, depending on how your family feel. Take your delicious packed-lunch (provided daily for you) to the top of a mountain, or jump into your hire-car and head for the ice-cream shop: it is up to you
