Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival and introduction
You'll be met at Ljubljana Airport from where we transfer to our hotel in Kobarid. After settling in, we host an introductory dinner which will be followed by some fun and games (ideal for bonding!).
Day 2
Exploration trek and caving into hell!
We transfer from Kobarid to Cadrg where our trek takes us through some simply jaw-dropping scenery culminating in a breathtaking view of the Polopg Valley and the church at Javorca. On the way back, we stop at a small farmhouse for a picnic lunch comprising local organic produce. From there, we visit the remarkable Tolminka Gorges and Dante's Caves. Legend has it that Dante Alighieri was so impressed by these remarkable troughs that they were the inspiration for The Divine Comedy. The bravest among us may want to try caving inside Dante's Cave (the entrance to hell perhaps?) in the company of experienced guides from the local caving club. The exploration takes approximately 90 minutes in groups of no more than ten people. After exploring the incredible gorges including 'Devil's Bridges' and 'The Bear's Head' we return to town via a country path.
Day 3
Canyoning
The Susec Canyon is very probably the best in the Soca Valley. With numerous slides and jumps as well as two spectacular 15m waterfalls it's an exhilarating combination of fun and excitement in a stunning natural setting. This evening, we host a traditional Slovenian dinner at the hotel followed by dancing to piano accordian music. It's a great way to immerse yourself in Slovenian tradition.
Day 4
Kayaking tuition and skills development
This morning we start with basic tuition on calm waters before attempting a Grade 1 and 2 stretch of river in the afternoon. Once you have mastered the essential kayaking skills you can control your descent and determine your own pace. A riverside barbecue lunch is included.
Day 5
Free day
Today is free to relax, explore or try additional activities (payable locally). Alternatively, the hotel will be offering a Slovenian Exploration which include the magnificent Postojna Caves (awesome!), Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj and either the Trenta Valley or the capital Ljubljana (payable locally).
Day 6
Kobarid treasure hunt and rock climbing
The treasure hunt will take place in Kobarid, with two or three excellent restaurants, an award winning and remarkably moving World War One museum and the stunning Napolean Bridge which straddles one of the river Soca's most dramatic stretches. We've created a treasure hunt which is designed to explore everything Kobarid has to offer. We haven't included lunch because Kobarid's restaurants are excellent (try the fish at Kotlar). If our full stomachs allow, we will try some rock climbing on an artificial wall before heading back to the hotel.
Day 7
Tubing
Just a half day activity today but with good reason. Tubing is just silly. You sit on a large rubber ring with a paddle and try to negotiate your way downstream. It's just about impossible but it's a laugh a minute and a huge favourite. We'll have a free afternoon before enjoying an evening barbecue.
Day 8
Free day
Our second free day but again our hotel has an outing planned this time to the Croatian island of Krk. It will be an extremely long day but the Croatian coastline is not to be missed (payable locally).
Day 9
White water rafting
The River Soca provides an exhilerating contrast of white water rapids and stunning mountain scenery which you can admire during the calmer stretches. We'll include some fun and games as we race downstream as well as some river survival skills and a riverside picnic lunch.
Day 10
Mini-rafting
Every year our client questionnaires confirm that this is a fitting conclusion to an excellent activity holiday. Mini-rafts are simply inflatable kayaks which give you much greater control than the larger white water rafts. You can paddle from shore to shore, negotiate rapids and even sit back and admire the towering peaks of the stunning Julian Alps. A riverside picnic lunch is included. A farewell dinner will be served tonight before our last night quiz. We hope you've been paying attention because some local knowledge will be a great advantage. There will be prizes for the clever ones.
Day 11
Depart or extend your stay
We return to Ljubljana Airport for the return flight home.
