Family Walking in Slovenia

This beautiful region of Slovenia has wonderfully varied walking in spectacular mountain scenery, with rolling pastures, wooded slopes, streams, waterfalls and caves. For younger children, the sleepy village of Kosec is safe to roam around and there are plenty of short walks and paddling opportunities. For older children, there are WW1 trenches and bunkers to explore high on the mountainsides, and in the valley bottom, the turquoise Soca River offers a range of exciting activities such as white-water rafting, canyoning, canoeing etc. Self-guided walks from ½ hour to full day ensure there is something for everyone, and an Upland Explorer activity pack is provided to keep all children interested and informed. You are completely free to do whatever you choose each day, depending on how your family feel. Take your delicious packed-lunch (provided daily for you) to the top of a mountain, or jump into your hire-car and head for the ice-cream shop: it is up to you!

When

This independent holiday is available between April and October. Arrive/depart on any day of the week you choose, and stay as long as you like (min 3 nights).

Stay

Your family stay in comfortable en-suite rooms with balconies and lovely views, as guests of the Kranjc family, who own the farm next door, and whose sheep you will see on your walks. Your single base will mean that you can really settle in, and there is no repeated packing/unpacking to do! Encounter traditional ways of life still being led, and know that your stay is benefiting the local community by bringing low-impact sustainable tourism to the area.

Price

from £345 per person for 3 nights to £645pp for 7 nights. Includes car hire, based on 2 sharing a twin room, excluding flights. Children under 2 stay free. There are NO high season supplements during school holidays. Price includes, accommodation, breakfast, daily packed-lunch, car hire, support of a locally based Upland Manager, 3 days a week of organised walking, Upland Handbook full of self-guided walks and local information, and an Upland Explorer pack for every child. 25 % discount for children aged 2-11 inclusive.
