Emily Morris didn't leave the UK until she went on a family holiday to Majorca at 16 but then quickly became addicted to going abroad and discovering new places. As a student, she worked part time in a holiday call centre and after graduating set up as a travel consultant.

Emily travels with her five-year-old son Tom as much as her overdraft allows. She’s been as far as Australia with him and describes him as the best travelling companion she could wish for. But though she loves showing Tom new countries and cultures, she also likes to share with him her renewed love for all that Britain has to offer. She loves finding quirky places to stay and is an expert at travelling on a budget.

Emily graduated with an MA in Writing Studies from Edge Hill University in 2009. In the same year, her blog about life as a single parent won two Manchester Blog Awards. She works as a copywriter by day and in the evening is working on a book about her experience of raising her son alone.

Emily lives in Manchester, a place she keeps coming back to for the people more than the scenery.
