10 Things to Look Out for When Booking a Resort with Tots, Teens or In-Betweens

Holidaying with children of different ages means taking different things into account. For instance, if you’re travelling with very young children, you’ll probably want one room or suite, so your baby or toddler is close to you. Conversely, if you’re holidaying with teens you’ll almost certainly opt for interconnecting rooms or perhaps an apartment. Similarly, you might want an accredited crèche with English-speaking nannies, or alternatively be assured there's a teen space where your older kids can get away from you!

We’ve asked our friends at First Choice and TUI for their recommendations for things to look out for with varying age groups.

With Babies

Opt for a TUI resort that can provide equipment such as strollers and cots, and well as having the likes of parent-and-baby facilities, a baby club and a baby lounge. Or book a First Choice resort with a Twinkle Stars crèche for ages 0 to 35 months.
Recommended resorts: TUI Family Life Blue Lagoon Village Deluxe, Kos or Holiday Village Seaview Ibiza

With Tots

Seek out a TUI resort with a parent-and-toddler club, dedicated kids’ pool and children’s dining. With First Choice, look for a kids’ club, kids’ pool, swimming academy and playgrounds.
Recommended resorts: TUI Family Life Islantilla, Costa de la Luz, Spain or Holiday Village Rhodes

With Pre-Schoolers

With children aged about three and four, pick a TUI resort with a splash park, a children’s pool area, kids' clubs, dedicated family entertainment such as visits from TUI the dog, and a children’s buffet. Or look for a First Choice resort with a kids’ club, meet-and-greets with the Widgets, child-friendly buffets and a choice of pools including a dedicated kids’ pool.
Recommended resorts: TUI Family Life Club Aura, Ibiza or Holiday Village Tenerife

With Primary-School-Aged Kids

For ages about 5–11, book a TUI resort with a kids’ splashpool, kids’ club, entertainment programs and family sporting activities. Or with First Choice, find a resort with a waterpark suitable for over-5s , a kids’ club for ages 3-11 and large family rooms .
Recommended resorts: TUI Family Life Bellevue Resort, Croatia or Planos Bay, Zakynthos, Greece

With Teens

For those with children 12 and up, it’s all about giving them some independence – look out for a TUI resort with a teen club, daytime activities, evening entertainment and a water funzone, or a First Choice hotel with a teen club, scuba-diving, table tennis, volleyball, basketball and live music.
Recommended resort: Electra Palace, Rhodes
