Our Favourite Easter Destinations for 2019

The super-stylish TUI SENSATORI Resort Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The super-stylish TUI SENSATORI Resort Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

Easter is a great time of year for a family holiday – long enough for a proper getaway and long-haul travel, but with warm enough temperatures in parts of the Med for a European beach break too. We’ve shared our top overseas family holiday destinations for Easter.

Marrakech, Morocco
This old walled city is the perfect destination for a long weekend and warm city break, with magical bazaars and winding alleys to get lost in and snake-charmers, storytellers and acrobats to wonder at in the medina’s main square.
Stay: Riu Tikida Palmeraie

Algarve, Portugal
This most family-friendly of coastlines is sunny and pleasantly warm at this time of year yet less than three hours’ flight time from London. Incredible beaches and excellent purpose-built resorts make it especially good for those travelling with small children, but a huge choice of sporting options make it perfect for teens too.
Stay: Riu Guarana, Olhos D'Agua

Cape Verde
Easter is warm and dry in this fabulous destination for families who like to combine activities, adventure and discovery with a laid-back beach holiday, situated off the north-west coast of Africa within a six-hour flight of the UK. There is also an ever-increasing number of family resorts with facilities such as kids’ clubs.
Stay: Hotel Riu Touareg, Boa Vista

It’s warm enough to swim in the sea at Easter on this island of myths and legends, where ancient ruins rub shoulders with some of the loveliest beaches in the Mediterranean. Other aquatic fun includes snorkelling, diving, paddling, paragliding, whizzing around in a banana boat and boat-trips.
Stay: Hotel Louis Phaethon Beach Club, Paphos

Dominican Republic
Ideal for those who want to make the most of the two-week Easter holiday, this gorgeous Caribbean island counts palm-fringed white beaches, tropical rainforest and mangrove swamps among its varied landscapes. The south-east has the best beaches and tourist facilities, making it the family-holiday hotspot.
Stay: TUI SENSATORI Resort Punta Cana

Goa, India
Easter is the summer season here, so it’s hot, but there are fewer visitors because it’s not peak season. Goa is best known for its 130km string of palm-fringed beaches including Morjim, a turtle nesting site, Colva and Calangute, although inland there are wildlife sanctuaries and temples to discover.
Stay: Heritage Village Club, Arossim Beach

Costa del Sol, Spain
One of the Europe’s best-known holiday hotspots, the 160km ‘Coast of the Sun’ – part of the Andalucia region – is just a short flight away and has lots of great-value accommodation in addition to a whopping 325 days of sunshine a year and lots of Blue Flag beaches.
Stay: Hotel Pez Espada, Torremolinos
