A survey by the National Citizen Service, a new flagship youth programme, has found that six in 10 teenagers struggle to find things to do during the summer holidays – and that that it costs some parents up to £3,600 (£600 a week) to entertain bored teens over the break.
According to the research, 10th August – two weeks into the main school holidays – sees teen boredom at its height. Yet sadly, 20% of teens questioned said that they would like to get out of their family holiday – with a third saying they would prefer to go away with their friends instead.
We at takethefamily.com know that while holidaying with teens can be a challenge, the summer holidays are also a precious time to reconnect outside of the hectic school terms, when it can be hard to get together as a family. So we’ve put our heads together to compile our hand-picked recommendations for holidays and breaks with tweens and teens in a wide variety of categories – holidays that will keep older kids busy and happy, but that will also please the rest of the family.
