Our Top Spots for a Villa Holiday in Mallorca with Kids

Villa March Martorell, AlcudiaVilla March Martorell, Alcudia

A classic and very popular destination for a family villa holiday, Mallorca is not without its hidden gems. We’ve toured this popular Balearic island in search of its best family-friendly villas handy for both the big sights and more off-the-beaten-track attractions.

Alcudia

For traditional seaside fun, head for Port d’Alcudia’s big, bustling marina. Alongside shops, restaurants and boutiques lining the large sandy bay, you’ll find pedalos and a waterpark. To calm kids back down and give them a sneaky history lesson, stroll around the medieval walled city of Alcudia, and check out the Roman house and the remains of an amphitheatre just south of the town.
Stay: Tintoretto

Sa Pobla

In the ‘Land of a Thousand Windmills’ on fertile reclaimed marshland, this country town is the centre of Mallorca’s farming community and the island’s ‘vegetable basket’. If that makes it sound boring, it’s not - there are charming little shops, a lip-smacking produce market and a little museum of toys and games and contemporary art, plus an excellent jazz festival in August.
Stay: Son Marc I

Cala San Vicente

Tucked away on the northwest tip of the island, sleepy Cala San Vicente enchants visitors with its two pretty, sandy coves with crystal-clear waters as well as being a short drive from the beaches of Puerto Pollenca and the bars and restaurants of Pollenca.
Stay: Can Vich

Pollenca

A few miles inland, this picturesque old Roman town is brilliant for those seeking an insight into traditional Mallorcan life, with narrow cobbled streets to wander, craft shops and a relaxed café life. Purchase fruit, vegetables, cheese and olives direct from farmers at the Sunday market, and discover Calvari church and the spectacular views across the town to the convent at Puig de Maria.
Stay: March Martorell

Cala d'Or

Chic yet family-friendly, with fishing boats, family beaches, watersports and golf, the unique little coves in this area are divine - glass-bottomed boats sail up and down the shoreline, stopping off for you to choose your beach for the day. Some coves have beach bars and sports facilities, others are more peaceful, Cala Mondrago, for instance, is a nature reserve. A marina at the heart of the resort itself has stylish Mediterranean eateries and a laidback tempo that attracts yacht-owners.
Stay: Casa Binimelis

Ca's Concos

In the south-east of the island, this quiet town has a traditional charm to its shaded streets lined with friendly cafes, two art galleries and a handful of shops and restaurants, but it’s also well located for enjoying larger towns - Cala d’Or is just 20 minutes away.
Stay: Quatrecamins
