Borneo Family Adventure Holiday
Travel by plane, boat, local bus and on foot to experience a family adventure holiday in Borneo. You will spend 11 days seeing the sights, exploring the jungle, snorkelling the tropical waters and relaxing on the beach. But what Borneo is most well-known for is its wildlife, making it a fantastic holiday destination to see orangutans in a rehabilitation centre and visit a money sanctuary, giving you and the kids the opportunity to learn and understand how these wonderful creatures exist on this tropical island through the various conservation projects.
This family adventure holiday is ideal for children from the age of 5 years and groups are never more than 16, and although some days include a fair amount of travelling, the excitement that awaits in each new location, the travel time will fly!
Itinerary
Day 1
Welcome meeting with your group at 6pm at your hotel in Kota Kinabalu. If you arrive early, explore the city.
Day 2
Kinabalu National Park - guided walk where you can bird- and wildlife spot.
Day 3
Early start for sunrise over the mountain. Trip to the Poring hot springs and thermal pools then head to the tea plantation where your accommodation awaits.
Day 4
Bus to small river-side village and be hosted for 2-nights by a community-run conservation project whose aim is to promote sustainable living in the forest. You will learn all about this then take a boat into the jungle to spot more animals, then take a night walk onto your jungle camp for the night.
Day 5
Another early start for a river cruise, then a cooking lesson in the jungle camp followed by boat ride to the base then board the bus to the Batu Tulug burial caves followed by a short hike to meet with some locals and see a traditional performance by the villagers.
Day 6
Travel to Sepilok via a monkey sanctuary then relax at the hotel pool for the afternoon.
Day 7
Visit Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre and learn all about these creatures and how they are reintroduced into the wild, then visit the Sun Bear Conservation Centre where they are rescued and cared for after years of mistreatment.
Day 8
Take a short flight to Kota Kinabalu then a drive to Kuala Penyu followed by a speed boat ride to Pulau Tiga to stay in 'Survivor' island with jungle trails and mud volcanoes.
Day 9
Boat ride to snake island; a breeding area for local species then head to a snorkelling spot where you may catch a glimpse of wonderful sealife.
Day 10
Head back to Kota Kinabalu and stay in a seaside guesthouse for the night.
Day 11
