Pierre & Vacances Residence La Forêt are modern and spacious family apartments located in Flaine, in the Grand Massif ski resort in the French Alps and while they won’t win any prizes for looks from the outside (this resort was built from scratch in the 60s), you will find ski-in/ski-out apartments that offer great value for money in a family-friendly resort.
Flaine is small resort offering a limited choice of eating and nightlife, and while not all of the area is pedestrianised, large enough chunks of it are to ensure it’s a safe environment, making this a great holiday for families with younger kids. Families can enjoy some new experiences in a relaxed environment (dog sledding, ice-driving). You’re 100 metres from the slopes and 450 metres from a shopping centre where you’ll find a cinema, bowling and a spa. There’s also a natural ice-rink in the forum (weather dependent). Child and adult ski packages at time of booking saves money and any entertainment organised in the resort (shows, concerts) is included in the cost so entertainment doesn’t have to cost a fortune for once!
The apartments are functional, some come with balconies, and they have kitchenettes that can be a bit of a squeeze but serve a purpose.
Note: Pierre & Vacances now offer flight and self-catering apartment packages to selected resorts, some with or without transfers plus the option to add on ski lift passes and ski equipment rental. Flight packages applies to arrivals at Chambéry and Lyon airports from selected airports in the UK, offering a great service where you can book all elements of a family ski holiday in one place.
