Family-friendly places to stay in Germany

From family-friendly hotels, apart-hotels and apartments well suited to city breaks to excellent farmstays and campsites, Germany has accommodation for every budget, taste and style of holiday. Most options tend to be good value and low-key, especially outside cities. Center Parcs holiday villages and the super-child-friendly Kinderhotels are both present in the region, and big theme parks often have their own hotels (check out and book Heide Park's themed Abenteuerhotel). Niedersachsen is known for its farmstays (www.landsichten.de/niedersachsen), ranging from the basic (adventurous 'Hay Hotels') to luxury. Most hosts speak decent English. Kids can play with pets, help on the farm and ride a tractor and/or a pony. To tempt grown-ups, there are organic meals, the chance to meet locals, cultural sites and opportunities for cycling, walking and other outdoors activities.
