Although Center Parcs Bispinger Heide, near Hamburg, Germany, is set in an oasis of greenery that can’t help but restore and resuscitate, this is a break for families who are looking to stay active as the whole resort is brimming with sports and activities. You won’t want to leave the parc but, if you do, you’ll find Hamburg, for a cultural fix, 1hr and 20minutes’ drive away through lovely countryside.
The parc itself has a subtropical swimming pool, children’s zoo, shows, imaginative and practical kids’ clubs where they’ll learn new skills and have fun (DJ mixing, 3D printing, science and circus skills), and sports including badminton, kayaking, table tennis, archery, rafting, biking and even a dive introduction (over-10s). There are four restaurants, a pancake house and café by the pool plus a supermarket and a pampering spa with Turkish baths.
Choose to stay in a fully-equipped cabin, tree house or even a boathouse, sleeping up to 4, 6, 8 and 12 people. All accommodation is stylish, if a little dated, with an open fire, terraced area with furniture, fitted kitchen and child’s bed while upgrades get you your own private sauna and whirlpool.
