How to get to Germany

You can fly from several major cities in the UK to around 25 airports in Germany. If you prefer to take your car, there are no longer any direct ferry services from the UK to Germany so you will need to sail to a port in France or the Netherlands and continue by road from there.

Alternatively, you can reach destinations such as Cologne, Frankfurt, Berlin or even Munich on the same day from London by train (see seat61.com for detailed info).

If you don’t hire a car in Germany, the country’s public transport network is one of the best in Europe, with excellent-value family tickets and free travel for children with adults.
