Things to do with kids in Lefkas
• Go sailing, windsurfing, sea-kayaking, water-skiing, wakeboarding, scuba-diving or snorkelling – Lefkas is a mecca for family watersports holidays.
• Go cycling or take a hike, or take to the skies and paraglide.
• Explore the main town of Lefkada, set around a pretty bay, with traditional multi-coloured timber-framed houses and an array of lovely shops, bars and restaurants.
Eating in Lefkas
Food in Lefkas includes lots of freshly cooked traditional Greek dishes, with salads and fish in abundance. Eating out on Lefkas is relatively inexpensive by UK standards
This is a great place to enjoy lazy lunches in the summer sun and forget about the 9 to 5. The town of Nidri is especially good for tavernas and restaurants. You’ll also also find plenty of British and Western favourites in resort towns and hotels.
When to go to Lefkas
The best time to go to Lefkas is summer, for the fantastic watersports. Most hotels are open from May to October, with July and August the busiest (and hottest) months.
With pre-schoolers take advantage of fewer people and lower rates outside high summer, and with school-age kids consider Lefkas for your May or October half-term holiday.
How to get to Lefkas
There are direct flights from the UK to Preveza on the Greek mainland, an hour's drive from Nidri (a bridge links the mainland and the island). Flights are seasonal (May to October) and operate from London and regional airports.
