Budapest is a great place to treat you and your family to a swish hotel oozing with history – somewhere of a standard you might not be able to afford elsewhere (though having to pay in Euros makes rooms less of a bargain than they might be). A sample price for a room at the Four Seasons is €230, about two-thirds of its equivalent in London. Like most Four Seasons, it has a pool and spa, and provides toys and games, kids’ bathrobes and toiletries, and more, with under-18s staying free in a parent’s room. Other family-friendly 5-stars are the Hilton Budapest and Hilton WestEnd.
The 5-star Corinthia Grand Hotel Royal allows kids into its spa and indoor pool between certain hourse. Special offers such as its Easter Fun Package include activities for kids. Its Royal Residence has apartments with up to 3 bedrooms.
The are further luxurious flats (up to 2 bedrooms) at the Adiana Apartment Hotel, with full kitchens plus a communal indoor pool.
If you’re on a tight family holiday budget, consider a family-run panzio or B&B (gotohungary.co.uk) or an apartment via a reputable firm such as Housetrip (housetrip.com).
Even cheaper but very cheerful, Camping Haller (hallercamping.hu) is a homely campsite a few minutes from the centre by tram or metro.
