Ideal for active family holidays in Europe, this rambling resort by a sandy beach appeals to those with children of all ages and especially to those who like to learn new sports and challenge themselves while away from home, whether it's circus skills or sailing, both of which are included in the price (as are many other activities). This all-inclusive resort on Sicily's southern coast is also a good place to practise your Italian or French language skills (Club Med is a French company).

Designed to resemble a typical Mediterranean village (buggy-pushers beware the cobbles!), Club Med Kamarina never seems too crowded despite its size. Rooms sleeping up to six means it's a great choice for large families, and there's a Décleor spa to escape to while the kids are having fun in the kids' clubs catering from ages two to 17 years. A Pyjama Club means you can also have some 'us' time in the evening.
