A reliable bet for an active family holiday in the Netherlands, Center Parcs De Eemhof has masses of things to do on-site for all ages as well as being less than an hour from Amsterdam, meaning you can easily head off to explore the city for the day. It also means you have the option of flying into the Dutch capital and hiring a car from there, if you don't choose to come to the Netherlands by car and ferry.
De Eemhof's facilities and activities include an indoor pool complex with a wave machine, a surf flowrider, and swimming and diving tuition for all ages. Heading outside, there's watersports on the lake, and you can explore the attractive wooded setting on foot or by bike, and have a go at archery, climbing and zipwiring, among other activities (many incur an extra charge and need to be booked on-site). Or if the weather isn't on your side, the indoor waterpark will provide hours of fun.
All accommodation is self catering, with kitchens and dining areas; some cottages are designed for those with younger kids, with play-huts and mini-theatres. Some accommodation is starting to be in need of a little TLC; the most modern options are in the Marina area. There are also quirky boathouses on the water itself.
With some options sleeping up to 12, Center Parcs De Eemhof is ideal for holidays with friends, extended family or grandparents. This is also a good choice with teens who want the option to go off and do their own thing, whether it's join in the DJ or graffiti academies or play beach volleyball.
When you need to re-fuel, there are shops selling food and essentials, as well as restaurants and bars. Optional meal packages (breakfast/dinner/half board) allow you to make savings.
