Forest Cabins & Apartments, Geilo, Norway

These modern self-catering apartments and traditional self-catering log cabins in Geilo, Norway, are a short walk from the slopes for hiking or skiing and a 15-minute walk from the nearest resort with shops and plenty of dining options. The slopes are gentle and the area is quiet, making this is a great choice for families with younger children who want to introduce them to the joy of skiing and the great outdoors in an unspoiled environment. 

Guests can purchase passes for the nearby hotel and can use the pool, playroom and spa. If you stay over the festive season your cabin will be decked out with a Christmas tree and decorations, lovely to come home to after a day trying out a range of winter sports; dog sledding, skiing or one of the bookable safaris (snowmobile and husky), or if you’re here in the summer there’s horse-riding, white-water rafting and high rope courses. 

The cabins have a spacious downstairs living area with wood-burning stove, veranda with furniture and fully-fitted kitchens.

  • Free shuttle to Geilo (taking 6 mins by shuttle - approx 20 mins if walking) from the Vestlia Resort.

For an extra charge you can also use the facilities of the Vestlia Resort (50-200m away, depending on which cabin you are in):

Accommodation

The cabins are all nestled among trees and are either semi-detached or detached (depending on the type you choose). Bedrooms have either twin beds, an Austrian twin (single mattresses/linen sets within one large frame) or bunk beds. Bedrooms on the upper floor have sloping ceilings. The cabins sleep 7, 10 or 12.

Each cabin varies (our photos are examples of the style) but all include:

  • Large entrance area for storage
  • Living/dining/kitchen area with log fire (bag of firewood included), TV and fully equipped kitchen
  • Private sauna
  • WiFi
  • Ski boot dryer
  • Balcony/verandah with chairs and table
  • Bed linen, towels and end-of-stay cleaning
  • Christmas tree and decorations for stays over Christmas day!

There are also modern apartments with 2 or 3 bedrooms, located in the centre of Geilo.

The cabins and apartments are self-catering but you can upgrade to include breakfast, with a breakfast buffet at the Vestlia Resort. You can also upgrade to include dinner at the Vestlia Resort. Both options are payable locally.

Childcare

The Trollklubben Kindergarten is located close to the Vestlia Resort and offers childcare for children from babies up to 8 years. Their programme includes indoor and outdoor activities - from arts and crafts to campfires and games in the snow. You can book by the hour or for whole days.

Geilo also offers a children's ski school, just 2 minutes' walk from the Vestlia Resort.

The kindergarten and ski school should be booked in advance (charge applies).

The Forest Cabins & Apartments, Geilo are a 3-hour 20 minutes’ transfer by car from Oslo airport. Flights are available from a choice of UK airports.
