Latin America is most often associated with backpacking and other forms of adventure travel, but there are some stunning family-friendly hotels and resorts in the region. This isn’t going to be a cheap holiday, however, so choose wisely. As a short cut, we’ve hand-picked our favourites in Mexico, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Peru, whether you’re looking for a full-on resort holiday or a swanky city hotel to use as a base for sightseeing or before setting out for more remote attractions, perhaps as part of a family adventure 

Our recommendations differ in terms of size and exact amenities. Some are boutique or characterful small-scale options, others are full-scale resorts with amenities and services for all ages, including childcare, children’s pools or even waterparks, spas, fantastic sports facilities and activity programs, and a choice of restaurants.
