Located on the shores of Lake Garzacocha, La Selva Ecolodge is a wonderful place from which to explore the amazing Ecuadorian Amazon rainforest and well worth the adventurous journey, which includes an internal flight and motorised canoe trip to get to the lodge.

Accommodation is in thatched suites, that combine rustic local style with luxurious comforts, such as rainforest showers and even hot tubs (in Family Suites). From the central lodge, local guides lead walks into the rainforest and paddled canoe trips along the river, imparting their knowledge of this beautiful area as you look for the array of local wildlife - from vibrant frogs to colourful birds and a number of different species of monkeys. For families, there is a specific family programme and the guides love encouraging children to discover the delight in spotting wildlife and learning about the local culture. Children can also join the Junior Naturalist Programme and take up the challenges presented by the naturalist guides (known for speaking English, Spanish and Parrot!) to earn the title of La Selva Junior Naturalist Guide.

Accommodation

La Selva has 19 suites, including four spacious Family Suites. All have ceiling fans, mosquito nets, luxury toiletries and luxury bed linen. The options include:

Superior Suites - with a king bed or 2 double beds, private balcony and a rainforest shower.
Scenic Suites - as Superior Suites but with a seating area and views of Lake Garzacocha.
Family Suites - kind bed and 2 double beds, sofa, spacious bathrooms, hammocks and a hot tub on the private porch.

Suites are in thatched houses on stilts - a little like treehouses.

Childcare

La Selva prides itself on being the most child-friendly lodge in the Ecuadorian Amazon! Whilst you won't find kids' clubs or childcare at La Selva, instead, there is a programme of family activities, suitable for children from 5 years old.

Highlights of the family programme:

All the La Selva fun stuff like hiking in the jungle, riding in canoes and looking for wildlife, with specially trained, English-speaking guides.
Special kit for adventurers.
Colouring kit for recording the day's sightings.

There is also a Junior Naturalist Program. The naturalist guides will give children who want to participate a list of challenges to complete, such as learning bird calls, finding food in the jungle and paddling the canoes. Location

Located deep within the Ecuadorian Amazon rainforest, La Selva is 5 hours from the international airport in the capital, Quito, and this internal journey is very much part of the adventure, including an internal flight and a 2-hour motorized canoe trip along the Napo River to the lodge.

Flights to Ecuador are available from a number of UK airports, via a hub such as Amsterdam, Madrid or Houston.
