Family-friendly places to stay in Mexico
Family-friendly resort hotels abound in Mexico, but for those looking for something intimate, there are lots of restored colonial estates serving as charming small guesthouses or hotels or rentable as villas. Many, including the Hacienda Las Trancas about four hours northwest of Mexico City and four hours east of Guadalajara, are very child-friendly. Another characterful option is the Quinta Real Zacatecas in an old bullring in the picturesque, UNESCO-listed colonial city of the same name.
For family-friendly green options, including adobe cabins set on white-sand dunes, see our feature on the best Eco-friendly Places to Stay in Latin America.
A family option on the relatively unknown, reasonably priced Costa Chica (see Overview – Things to Do) is the Camino Real Zaashila, with two-bedroom suites with kitchenettes, some with plunge pools, plus a seasonal, free kids’ club and secluded private beach. In Acapulco, the Princess Mundo Imperial Riviera Diamante is highly regarded by families for its pools, private beach area, food and location.
