Howbeck Lodge, on the northern edge of the Lake District, is 300-acre organic sheep and cattle farm working under a sustainable countryside award scheme, home to prize-winning livestock and a family that have run it for the past 20 years.

The collection of safari-style glamping tents sleep up to 6 people and come fully-furnished with home comforts, running water and outdoor living space. You can ramp-up the luxury by opting for a 'frills' lodge which also includes an en-suite bathroom, wooden terrace for al fresco dining and beds made on arrival.

There are plenty of 'extras' you can book for your arrival, including breakfast hampers, fruit and veg boxes, a BBQ pack and the premier service which guarantees your beds are made up, the wood burner and lanterns lit, and a meal and drink ready for your arrival. There is an on-site honesty shop where you can stock-up on local produce, Christine (the farmers wife) cooking up a variety of treats and the chickens are nearby for you to select fresh eggs each morning. One of the more unique services when staying at Howbeck Lodge Farm is that if you have a horse, there is a livery and stable where you can house them for your stay, but strictly, no dogs are allowed on site.

Of course, being set at the site of England's largest national park creates ideal opportunities for walks through beautiful landscapes, and the nearby village Hesket Newmarket is just a short stroll away with a playground, pub and community-owned brewery.
