On a remote, friendly holiday park in Northumberland, Kielder Water Lodges are a hidden gem offering the chance to get away from hectic modern life. Kids love activities including cycling, ice skating and crazy golf, but this is also simply a great place for family holidays or breaks out in the fresh air, with long walks followed by a refuel in the cosy on-site pub. Lodges at Kielder Water do look a little tired on the exterior but are generally clean, cosy and spacious inside. The on-site shop is limited in its stock but local supermarkets can deliver to the lodges.

About 80km west of Newcastle upon Tyne, on the southwestern edge of the  Northumberland National Park. Public transport is difficult, so take or hire a car.
