Chessington Safari Hotel, Surrey
Within the Chessington World of Adventures Resort in Surrey, the Chessington Safari Hotel (formerly the Holiday Inn Chessington) is a super-family-friendly place to stay for those wanting to get the most out of the famous themepark, zoo and aquarium – indeed, it's featured among the top 25 UK family hotels in TripAdvisor's Traveller's Choice Awards.
Safari-themed, the hotel is full to the brim with facilities, including a Wii room, a children's movie corner, a swimming pool and a restaurant – shared with the newer Chessington Azteca Hotel to which it is linked, and which has another restaurant.
Some rooms look out onto one of the zoo's animal reserves; they include a few African Adventure family rooms with a canvas sleeping area for kids, Penguins of Madagascar rooms, and a few new-in-2017 Gruffalo-themed rooms with bathroom TVs, Gruffalo movies and kids' towelling ponchos, a hidden door with a Gruffalo gift and VIP parking.
Hotel guests benefit from early park entry, helping them avoid queues, after-hours access to the African 'village' and animal reserve, and the option of special events such as early-morning giraffe-feeding sessions.
