The setting of Dale Fort, and the activity centre itself, is somewhat impressive. Situated on a headland on the stunning Pembrokeshire coast (within the National Park and not too far from Milford Haven), this is a converted Victorian military fort with views across the waterway and home to one of the biggest guns ever built (one for the military fanatics). It is perfectly located so you can head across to the birdlife-rich islands of Skomer, Skokholm and Grassholm; make sure the twitchers amongst you bring your binoculars. For those of you who like the beach, Pembrokeshire is famous for them and is often mistaken for the Mediterranearn with its white sands and clear blue waters. With all this at your doorstep, you are in for a treat.

But what makes Dale Fort really great for families are the activities. Family holidays here are all-inclusive so for the one fee you get accommodation (choose between private rooms and dorms), all meals and some snacks, and most of the organised activities (which are all led by experienced tutors). By staying here you will be holidaying with like-minded families, who want to enjoy quality time with one another, exploring the great outdoors and picking up a few new skills, whether that be map reading, the art of crabbing, or simply getting close to nature and socialising with new people.
