With its simple modern hostels around England and Wales, in cities, at the coast and in the countryside – many of them handy for family-friendly attractions – the YHA provides comfortable and affordable places to stay when travelling with kids, whether it's for a one-night stopover, a weekend away or short break, or a longer holiday.

YHA hostels are suitable for everyone looking for a UK break; some are well adapted for those travelling with babies and toddlers, others are better for those with school-age kids and teenagers. Accommodation varies, but private rooms are available in addition to dorms, sometimes sleeping up to six people. Some hostels, mainly those in rural settings, also allow camping, and some even have glamping options and camping pods, barns and huts.

There are also communal lounge areas, gardens or outdoor areas, games and laundry facilities, and in some hostels a shared kitchen for self-catering and/or a dining room where you can get well-priced meals including breakfast. Packed lunches can also be ordered to take out and about with you.

All in all, this is a great option for UK family holidays and breaks on a budget, with the added bonus of your being able to socialise with like-minded families.

Looking for something a little different and quirky for your family break in England or Wales? YHA now offer camping and glamping options in some fantastic destinations, whilst still offering great-value and the chance to explore the Great British cities, coasts and countryside.
