Visit the Bug House to see the creepy-crawlies.

Take in an afternoon Bird of Prey display.

Take the kids to a sealion show or vulture feeding sessions – check out the times when you arrive at the park.

Don’t miss the attractions and rides, which tend towards the gentle and include a carousel and several rides suitable for tots.

Take kids six and up to try out the world’s biggest urban high-wire adventure course, the one-site Aerial Extreme.

If visiting during weekend and school holidays check out the variety of animal talks to learn more about your favourites from the park rangers.

Where to stay

See our Liverpool destination guide for family-friendly accommodation close to the park.

Daily March – October 10am–6pm (last entry for safari drive is 4pm). Amusement rides operate from noon each day.

Knowsley is well-signposted 23km north-east of Liverpool and 53km west of Manchester and easily accessed from the motorways.

Although the first part of the attraction is a drive-through safari there are a couple options for those of you travelling by public transport. You can make your way to a local bus or train station and book your place on the Baboon Bus (additional cost; book in advance) that will take you around the Safari park, or you can take the Safari Express bus from Liverpool city centre and continue on around the Safari park (available on selected days during the school holidays).

There’s a restaurant serving burgers, chicken nuggets and the like, plus an outdoor grill, coffee house and ice cream parlour, but you can also picnic on-site.

Entry for two adults and two kids over 3 will set you back just under £60. Amusement rides cost extra, or you can buy a wristband for multiple rides and savings.
