What to do

Experience the live battle reenactments, including jousting and the Mighty Trebuchet.

Take a guided tour around the castle to find out all about its past.

Get lost in time in the Horrible Histories Maze.

Don't miss the birds of prey show.

Head into the Dungeons (although this is recommended for children over 10 years due to it's scary-ness!).

Enjoy the grounds – take a picnic and sit amidst fascinating history as you munch your sarnies.

Where to stay

On the doorstep of Warwick Castle, the Hilton Warwick is a good value family-friendly base for visiting the castle and surrounding area (including nearby Stratford-upon-Avon and Birmingham). Alternatively, book an on-site medieval glamping tent for an authentic medieval short break experience, or stay in the Knight's Village Lodges or exclusive Tower Suites, and enjoy evening entertainment and activities including archery and a jesters' school.


Warwick Castle is open every day of the year, apart from Christmas Day. Opening times vary depending on the time of year, but the castle generally opens each day at 10am and closes at 5pm.


Located just outside the city of Warwick, with easy access from the motorway. There's a large (paying) car park on site.


There are several places to eat and drink within the castle grounds, from hearty meals to snacks, or it's a great spot for a picnic.  


Book in advance to save money. Expect to pay around £84 for a family of 4 (two adults and 2 children aged 3-11).
