Active Family Holidays in Africa and the Middle East
Active holidays in Africa and the Middle East appeal to adventurous families, generally – but not exclusively – those with slightly older kids or teenagers. Safari holidays are the classic African experience, but you might also cross the Saharan sands of Morocco by camel, or combine sandboarding and quad-biking in the Egyptian desert with diving and snorkelling on the Red Sea.
Wildlife is often the focus of child-friendly active holidays in this region – meet elephants, hippos and a whole host of creatures cute and rather less cuddly – and there are often cultural excursions involved, to ancient ruins and other iconic sites where kids love to play as warriors and adventurers. But optional extras will generally be on offer too, including hiking, gorge-swinging and canoeing.
Most active holidays have lower age limits/guidance, but always take to an operator ahead of booking to make sure that it is the right option for you and your child/ren.
