Welcome to the world of small-group family adventure holidays. Some are based in one location; on others you’ll enjoy an array of different locations - perhaps a few days in the mountains, followed by a few days by the coast.
How big is a 'small group' on family adventures?
Most trips have a maximum of 4-5 families. Some are geared towards primary-school-aged kids, others towards older kids and teenagers. Itineraries mix planned family-friendly excursions and activities with free time as a family – opt for some downtime (yes, even perhaps lounging by the hotel pool) or add on an extra activity.
Sharing amazing experiences usually leads to new friendships among both the kids and the adults – something that makes these trips especially popular with parents travelling solo and families travelling with one child.
Some meals are included and some aren't, so you can choose what and where to eat for some meals (you won’t be the first to find the kids really want a pizza or a burger one night, instead of local specialities), and whether to eat with the group or do your own thing.
What experiences do small-group family adventures offer?
Each destination has its own offerings but in general you can count on a mix of active and cultural experiences – the balance may tip either way. A few examples of the experiences you might find on a guided family adventure trip:

Can we change the tour itinerary?
With small-group family adventures you do follow a pre-planned itinerary, but there's always some flexibility in it, so you can tailor it a little to your family's wishes by adding in optional activities.
